How come the majority of black people don’t listen to country music?

I’m not saying all but most of them listen to hip hop and rap.
My friend who is black gets discriminated for listening to country and rock. She had to pretend to hate it so she can fit in. She got called a sellout for acting white. She grew up around hip hop and rap music so she knows most of the songs from that genre.
It’s truly awful. That’s why.

I didn't grow up listening to country nor do I care about it. My music genre of choice is rock, R&B, soul, and alternative

It is sad that she has to hide the fact that she likes Country Music. I can list 10 black male country singers.

I honestly don't know, maybe it's just not our thing? I am not talking into country music, save for a few songs I actually like.

I am sorry that your friend got bullied and felt like she needed to conform with others I have known a lot of black people that listen to country or rock music or even heavy metal.

I personally listen to a lot of music except for gospel or country music I bet her friends didn't even know that black people invented country and rock music I am so sick of this judgemental dumbassery black people carry. I guess it depends on the environment they grew up in.
I think it's mainly a city vs rural thing. Blacks in cities mainly listen to hip-hop. Blacks that live in rural areas are more likely to listen to country.
