I stab them and move on.
@WonderGirl1 I got a downvote for this one. Lmao! 🤣

If they don’t like my music, they don’t have to listen. When I’m working out the music is somewhat loud and primarily a mix of old rock n’ roll, rap and some pop.
I can handle classical, particularly something light like Vivaldi. Country rarely works for me. I really don’t give a shit about your gf or your truck and I don’t drink from red solo cups either.

I don’t seek approval from others on that subject. My attitude is only two kinds of music good or bad. We both can put on headphones. But we also can seek common ground on others genres.
Unlike religion, it’s a matter of what you were exposed to. Not a belief.

@BlueSkyKing No, I don't seek approval. But some songs are so intricate to me... I'm sure you have some...that you show other people and they are like, "meh, it's ok".
BlueSkyKing · M
@HellsBelle The attraction must have something else other than media or culture. 90% of the music I have bought has zero airplay on commercial radio. I get the "meh" but I also get the "Wow! I never heard this before".
Relationships are always about communicating and comprising. Everyone will always have individual tastes. Make the effort find more things in common.

I've actually always connected with people together with music. Every person I've dated I've similar taste in it. I'm not sure how well dissimilar taste in it in two people would work. seems almost trivial but there's truly something with music and connection

It's tough. It was like that with my college girlfriend and I. She only listened to things like Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, classical, etc.
I liked all that stuff, but I also went way left-of-center and liked metal and bands like Husker Du. She outright hated them, and would even interrupt conversations I was having (with other people) to interject how much she disliked them. That was a drag. We were/are both musicians but there was this lame element of competition between us, from her side.
My current gf doesn't really get the last album I recorded, which is a comedy album. I'd bring her home rough mixes and laugh, but she'd go "Meh. Maybe it's only funny to you."

@SW-User No, I am.

It's not going to work. My music is too important to me. I can't sit there and pretend to like that mainstream garbage like mumble rap and popstsars who use autotune. 😒
Paladin · 61-69, M
My wife and I have completely different tastes in music. Not a big deal.
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@Paladin how long have you been married and what are the different tastes?
Paladin · 61-69, M
@HellsBelle Next month, we celebrate our 40th anniversary.
She's more into pop music, where I prefer classic rock, and early metal.

I am not with someone because of their taste in music. They can hate or like whatever they want

I always judge your answers based on your age and what I know of you. This comment would get a like or love from friends I've known for 3 years that is the same s*x as me, and 28. But from you.... no. I just don't get it. 41-45, doesn't "know me like that".... to this day I just don't get you. You remind me of my brother. If your name is Eugene.... bro, stop.
TheOneyouwerewarnedabout · 46-50, MVIP
@HellsBelle 👆 that would be my reply to someone who said they dont like my music… 🤷♂️
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout You a diff one for sure
BeachGirl47 · 26-30, F
Doesn't matter
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
@BeachGirl47 Have you experienced it? what do you like that was opposite your partner at the time?
BeachGirl47 · 26-30, F
@HellsBelle I like rock and roll and oldies from the 50s and 60s. And my partner liked rap pop and hip hop. That's not why we aren't together anymore.
HellsBelle · 36-40, F
Married to someone who doesn’t care for music in the least.

@Ferise1 I am sorry, but your original comment has zero punctuation, uses "girly" as ...something?
you said, "works for us".... works for who??
you listed two genres......but....what is the context???
