Where Did Metallica End, For You?

Load/ReLoad, they Always get dumped on, but that's really where it ended, for me; I've narrowed it down to James' voice somehow changing, nothing since these two maligned records has been even close; don't get me wrong, they are NOWHERE near the brilliance of the first three, or five, which makes me also assign it to Jason's departure, which i TRULY believe......

The black album was pretty bad, and honestly I never kept up with their work after that.
I mean the song "wherever I may roam" sounds like metal disco you would hear at a gay club. At THAT moment, I knew something was terribly wrong.

I remember when Load came out, one of my friends said not to waste my money. He said he had bought a copy, didn't like it, and could not even give it away so he threw it in the trash.

@CestManan agreed!! believe it or not,, I've actually come across people that think the Black album was their first record🤯
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SilkandLace2 Maybe cause it was a self-title. It's unofficial name is "black" but officially, self-title, if I am not mistaken.

Funny how people think. Remember when Wayne's world came out and some people thought Bohemian Rhapsody was a brand new song?

@CestManan that's true

The last five years have been rough. Still a great band, but they are a shadow of their former selves.
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@Cdmnlvr I'm of the opinion that they have been for at least 15 years
Cdmnlvr · 31-35, M
@SilkandLace2 I can see why you feel that way. Having been a huge fan I noticed the drop-off in the quality of the made music a while back, but the last few years the passion is gone. Just seems like a cash grab nowadays.
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@Cdmnlvr I'm not even sure I'd say that; i just thing they really believe the material is good; people shit on Load and Re, but I just hear it as "it" was still there, just different than the first 5, Death Magnetic and Hardwired "to Stupid", gosh how terrible,, or maybe in missing something?!
When he got sober
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@CestManan well, I think he has been for quite some time now;

@SilkandLace2 He is an awesome musician but otherwise he is a train wreck.

At least his band stayed mostly true to their sound, unlike Metallica whom became a metal band for soccer moms and dads.
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@CestManan well, if what has been put out there is true,, sober, yes, the burp with Dave Jr, UGH!! I liked the trilogy immensely, i liked Super Collider, Dystopia was the best album that year, overall Megadeth wins the last even 5 years
SW-User
Still a fan to this day🤘
SilkandLace2 · 46-50, M
@SW-User oh gosh, me too, but it's totally just the first 20 years for me
