Where Did Metallica End, For You?

Load/ReLoad, they Always get dumped on, but that's really where it ended, for me; I've narrowed it down to James' voice somehow changing, nothing since these two maligned records has been even close; don't get me wrong, they are NOWHERE near the brilliance of the first three, or five, which makes me also assign it to Jason's departure, which i TRULY believe......

The black album was pretty bad, and honestly I never kept up with their work after that.
I mean the song "wherever I may roam" sounds like metal disco you would hear at a gay club. At THAT moment, I knew something was terribly wrong.

I remember when Load came out, one of my friends said not to waste my money. He said he had bought a copy, didn't like it, and could not even give it away so he threw it in the trash.

@CestManan I hear that, the Black album has been debated, personally I liked it, for the same reason I like L/RL, it seemed like the natural progression for a band achieving mega-stardom, I have no problem with that, but then dissention etc, then St Asshole, then therapy and "we have to love each other" and Jasonic leaving, I LOVE Roberto, but,, the Vision just fell away.......

@CestManan I've been re-listening to Load the last two days, Reload will be the next two, just in case I missed something.....

@SilkandLace2 We you, theone, and I grew up with Kill'em all, Ride the lightning, Master of puppets, and the slightly questionable "Justice". Metallica ROCKED with those. I mean the music made us feel rage in a good way. Side two, at least, of Black rocked pretty hard.

We expected a lot from those guys.

Then... well (sigh)

I think a lot of our favorite bands took a turn for the worst in the early 90's.

Prime example, Maiden released a steaming pile of crap called "No prayer for the dying".

@CestManan agreed!! believe it or not,, I've actually come across people that think the Black album was their first record🤯

@SilkandLace2 Maybe cause it was a self-title. It's unofficial name is "black" but officially, self-title, if I am not mistaken.

Funny how people think. Remember when Wayne's world came out and some people thought Bohemian Rhapsody was a brand new song?

@CestManan that's true
