@Shine Thank you for BC.

I'm pretty sure New York and California have totally different vibes in music. But as an outsider I can only think in stereotypes.

There's this stereotype about Surf Music in California

[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=054IR6BhOKA]

And jazz in New York? I think...
And Sinatra Of course...

Central America - country, bluegrass (?)
There's this satire about American Small town. 😅

I'd like to know myself, honestly.

@CrazyMusicLover I love the songs you chose~

@Shine This is what I'd take as a typical American music. 😁 But it's kind of specific.

That’s hard. America is incredibly diverse. That’s like asking for songs that display the entirety of all of Europe.
Shine · 26-30, F
@JustGoneNow Is there a song from your state then?
@Shine This song makes me think of home anyways.

@Shine This song makes me think of American politics.

I changed my mind. This song completely encapsulates the entirety of the promise of America and freedom.

@JustGoneNow Bit like Neil Diamonds' cover 🌈🤟
@Kwek00 *giggles* I might have had that one coming. lol
Ladykatvontrixiebelle · 26-30, F
Can you be more specific? American culture is pretty heterogeneous so I don't think there's any one music style that encapsulates some monolithic "American Culture"
Shine · 26-30, F
@JustGoneNow Woah.. that is a lot of music you have collected... It sounds very interesting.
@Shine Music is my life. I both play and write. I love music. 🥰
@Ladykatvontrixiebelle And country.
To many types of songs to list but they are in many categories like rock, country, jazz, etc.

He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me"
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"

[...]

Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinkin' alone

And what @bijouxbroussard says, pretty much everything from Bruce Springsteen.
Shine · 26-30, F
@Kwek00 I like that song
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Shine My favourite one is "Captain Jack"... but you asked a song that showcases American culture. I think this song captures the beauty and sadness of living in the US. But that's my subjective opinion of course.

[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xxugNQUtpE]

this is my favourite.
And also look up paintings by Edward Hopper. They capture the loneliness in a modern world.

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Lmao that's a pretty heavy dig right now considering the president uses that song without even realizing that it's making fun of America.

"We Didn't Start the Fire", Billy Joel
"American Pie" Don McLean
BlueHorizon · 22-25, M
