I woke the same as any other day except a voice was in my head...

It said "Seize the day, pull the trigger, drop the blade and watch the rolling heads..."

@TexChik It's a lyric from the song "The Day I Tried to Live" by Soundgarden.

@BlueMetalChick awww...love that band..from Seattle. and Chris Cornell. what a loss..then Chester Bennington..another loss
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@akindheart I never liked Chester's music and thought Linkin Park sucked, but I was very upset when he died. He was an inspiration to a great many people and certainly someone who made a big impact on a lot of lives.

@BlueMetalChick a good one I hope

@BlueMetalChick from what i heard, he hung himself because of Chris Cornell. I saw him with Stone Temple Pilot...they were trying him out.

@TexChik I'm not sure if it's good or not, it was really just quite random. When I was in community college, I attended Triton College in Melrose Park, a suburb of Chicago. The campus is located about three blocks from a street called North avenue, one of the biggest, longest, and busiest streets in the greater metropolitan area. A lot of students took the bus down North avenue from various parts of the city to get to the college, and so the college ran a shuttle that would drive the three blocks from the campus up to the intersection at North avenue, pick up students, and then drive back to the campus, so that they didn't have to walk when it was freezing cold and snowing in the winter.

I rode the bus up to the intersection one morning when it was overcast and very cloudy and had rained heavily overnight. I had my headphones on and was listening to the song in question. I got on the shuttle and sat on one of the very worn leather seats. Other than the driver, the only other person with me was another student, a Mexicana named Marcella Galvan. She was a very intense, furtive, quiet person. She was sitting across from me eating a bunch of grapes, wearing fingerless gloves and tapping her foot impatiently like she was edgy.

I don't know why but now hearing this song always makes me think of sitting on the shuttle bus on that wet rainy morning, riding to college, with Marcella and her grapes.

@akindheart Was it Chester who had struggled with meth addiction?
akindheart61-69, F
@BlueMetalChick yes depression, methamphetamine and cocaine for years.
TexChikF
@BlueMetalChick just a moment in the life of a student ?
BlueMetalChick26-30, F
@TexChik Yeah, that's about what it was. My memory is like that though, I have an almost superhuman memory that's constantly recording everything around me. It's almost like a subconscious obsession. I remember phone numbers of restaurants that closed ten years ago, I remember dialogue word for word from movies I haven't seen since childhood, I remember the outfit I was wearing on a certain day when something important happened, I remember what song was playing on the radio when I drove to the museum with my grandma three summers ago. It's really quite absurd.

@akindheart Having struggled with addiction myself I know how destructive can be, and I'd imagine that being depressed on top of it only makes it worse. I'm fortunate enough to have never suffered from depression or similar problems but I've known too many people who have.

@BlueMetalChick I understand that . I鈥檓 not quite blessed with a photographic memory but everything is still in there ... the 12 cranial nerves and their function. What tissues look like microscopically , chemistry ... and at the last minute I didn鈥檛 go to medical school ... I went on a different career path ... but all that info is still in there. Most importantly the good stuff is too! I can remember my adoptive mothers voice inflections , how she smelled , everything she ever taught me . My adoptive father鈥檚 unique way of making his point . 馃槉
