Yes
Have for many many years?
I wouldn’t shop used at any pawn shops
Although you can get a decent deal if the pawn shop doesn’t know what they’ve really got…
If you’re looking at used, make sure the neck has been thoroughly looked over.. making sure it’s not twisted and that the fretboard is straight….
Oftentimes there are significant cost jumps from beginner instruments to mid level to high end. Definitely wood quality and craftsmanship differences between those realms too.
It all depends what you’re after.. how much you’re willing to spend… you’re playing level… etc

I have a Jay Turser which is an okay budget electric guitar for under $200 you might get a good
deal on an amp at a pawn shop or something like that or on Used.ca but than you might
unwittingly be buying a stolen amp. you can rent amps. some music stores such as L&M
will sometimes sell you instruments on monthly payments like rent to own by a different

Good advice here. I went with a Yamaha FG830 acoustic for the value. Once i knew id stick with it I upgraded it with a tusq bridge and nut, ebony bridge pins. Also bought a mexican fender strat. Tusq nut on that too. Very happy with them. Got a good deal on a Boss Katana 100 amp.
@WanderlustCat Thanks! Now I know what to look for, it's a start!
