Anyone play the electric guitar?
I want to buy one but it looks like the only decent ones are pretty expensive, with the amp. I might shop for second-hand ones. Any tips on shopping used, to make sure I don't get ripped off?

I wouldn’t shop used at any pawn shops
Although you can get a decent deal if the pawn shop doesn’t know what they’ve really got…
If you’re looking at used, make sure the neck has been thoroughly looked over.. making sure it’s not twisted and that the fretboard is straight….
Oftentimes there are significant cost jumps from beginner instruments to mid level to high end. Definitely wood quality and craftsmanship differences between those realms too.
It all depends what you’re after.. how much you’re willing to spend… you’re playing level… etc

@SW-User Thank you, those are great tips! I think the maximum I want to spend is $500-700 for both. I know that's not going to get me high end but it's not completely cheaping out. I've seen both a knock-off guitar and amp (Rocker brand) for $80 but I imagine that's not the best quality lol
