We need another really good tv-show

It's escapism, of course, but how about a female version of Magnum PI for example? That's a tv-series from my own youth. It was basically a group of males doing male stuff together. It got to be a bit boring once one got passed the lovely cars and glorious settings. But no, never the beautiful guest stars like an young Sharon Stone, nor the on-going denuding of the personal life of every main character. In short, the story lines saved the day. Now my idea is that one could make those into how women experience life instead of men so very easily without losing any of the escapism. I especially remember an eight episode in the second season that coud be rewritten like that.

In the original series a novelist called "Mad Buck" Gibson comes to terms with his terminal cancer and decides to embark on one final adventure and that's hang gliding from Oahu to Maui. Magnum knows that this will almost certainly end in the death of Buck, but he regretfully realizes that there is nothing he can do to stop it. Just after take off, Buck shouts down to Magnum, "Don't look so grim Magnum, with my luck I'll make it!" It was a really powerful ending to a great episode.

How about making that character into a female writer/adventurist in her thirties who's been struggling with breast cancer, the loss of men in her life and the demise of her active sexuality? How about putting forward a fierce female character marked by the illness, both physically en mentally, like that? She has still some alure but the men abandon her one after the other just because she can't handle the effects of the disease and the various treatments that she goes through very well. Add to that an overconcerned father that doesn't even allow her to make any of the decisions for her life's end and I think that you'll have one terrific script again

You had Police Woman with Angie Dickinson in the '70s. Sergeant Pepper! Ha,ha someone was a Beatles fan! Also Baywatch in the '80s. You're right, we need something new.

@Jayciedubb Exactly. I guess that the issue is that one doesn't want to write female characters like that any more. Plenty of the real stuff still happening though

@val70 I don't think it's that they don't want to write. I think it's that they can't write like that these days. Those are all shows that were based on hot women. Hot women are outlawed these days I think. Which, when you think of it, that kind of confirms what they're trying to dispel. If hot women aren't allowed to do regular stuff, like they can't be plumbers, or truck drivers, Etc, it's like they're saying that their work is already cut out for them as being fashion models, strippers and pornstars. They have no other skills or capabilities. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, scratch fashion model off that list too, or at least halfway off. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion based on my perspective . as far as I know I'm still allowed to have one of each

@Strictsir I just thought of another one. Maybe. Does a bionic woman count? And, a couple more maybes..

Julie from the Mod Squad

And Jill Danko, another Kate Jackson role, from the Rookies

Now they're coming out of the woodwork. What about Agent 99 from Get Smart? She might have been my first TV Crush. Oh and don't forget the bird from The Avengers. What was her name? I know the dude's name was Steed. .. all I remember is that she was a hot little Kung Fu vixen. And now I'm wondering if it wasn't her who was my first TV Crush.🤔 even at age 4, Kung Fu Vixen and Agent 99 would have made me a very happy 4 year old as the meat in a sandwich in which they were the bread ..

😐what. ..😏 I was raised in San francisco. We start earlier than most LOL what can I say😉😁

These karaoke shows like American Idol are lame. How about bringing back The Gong Show?

Random acts cheered on or jeered by a live studio sudience.
