@helenS Yes! One of the most distinctive voices in radio, playing so many different parts. But told he was too short and fat to play Matt Dillon on TV. :(

@helenS Had to dye his hair for the job though, I think. He was a blond like his brother, Peter Graves, if I remember rightly.

@helenS 6'6" or something like that -- made a great "giant carrot" in the original film of THE THING.

@ChipmunkErnie Oh he played the "thing" in the original movie – wow! Did you see Carpenter's remake? It bombed fantastically, but I kind of liked it when I saw it some years ago.

@helenS Yes, seen both versions. And the sequel to the later version.

@helenS It was more of a prequel to the 1989 John Carpenter film. Titled THE THING, it came out in 2011.

@ChipmunkErnie Indeed. On the radio version-William Conrad played Marshall Dillon; Conrad later played a high priced private detective on the CBS crime drama "Cannon" (1971 to 1976) and co starred in "Jake and the Fat Man" (1987 to the early 1990's). :)
