Im rewatching Chernobyl, which was one of best shows I binged on during the pandemic. It was gritty, well acted and compelling.

It also unintentionally mimicked how people world reacted to the pandemic, in the same way the Soviet Union reacted to the disaster. The closing monologue is apt indeed:[media=https://youtu.be/dK0iZu9PTVo]

Yeah, I really liked that series. Also, it answered a question I had had for a long time about why the soviets designed a reactor with a graphite+water moderator when the rest of the world was using just water. Turns out the graphite moderator allows them to use lower levels of uranium enrichment - 2.5% instead of 3.5% for most pressurized water reactors.

BTW, while all the designs for mini-reactors are intriguing, my understanding is the smaller the reactor, the higher level of enrichment it requires; maybe up to 10% or more. Higher enrichment is more expensive and more radioactive.
