I Love "Star Trek, the Next Generation"

Star Trek Picard is not actual Star Trek

I've been overseeing Star Trek: Picard and what I have seen so far is far from being anything Star Trek. Gene Rodenberry's vision for Star Trek is supposed to be positive and about humans overcoming their problems and immaturity by exploring the galaxy and seeking out new life and new civilizations. Instead, all we are getting is Saw or Pirates of the Caribbean in space. There is no character development for a show that is supposed to be in the verge of heading to the 25th century, humanity has reverted its attitude to the early 21st century. This is the mess you get whenever you hire writers or producers who have never seen Star Trek before.

You have eloquently and succinctly summated why PICARD is NOT STAR TREK.

I REFUSE to watch it now , season two.
This kind of TV: It actually does traumatize me. I don't need that sht.

This is SO Disgraceful.

How are you about Discovery? I despize it for the same reasons.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I made it through the first half of the first episode of Discovery and gave up. Haven't even bothered with Picard. :/
@thepreposterouspanda Yup. I tired very hard and was so disgusted and SHOCKED I think that is the expression: 'Shock factor'. FROM Star Trek??? That's NOT what Gene had in his right mind. PERIOD.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Star Trek Discovery is more like All My Children in space. Michael Burhman wispers 95% of the time and during a critical situation, everyone, including Michael cry and talk about their feelings. Kirk, Picard, Sisko and Janeway would find a way to boot their asses out of Starfleet.
@Barefooter25 I don't know if I watched that, but I did watch the young and the restless.

Someone much older than I was watching the soap operas and by default, so did I.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I watch Days of Our Lives. ⏳
@Barefooter25 It's great to have a show that's gripping.

@thepreposterouspanda The crew of Discovery all act like immature teenagers. In one episode, Dr. Ricky or whatever his name is, was screaming at a droid for no apparent reason. Can you ever imagine Luke doing the same to C-3PO or R2D2? Another episode focused on the feelings of the ship's computer. This is definitely not Star Trek.
@Barefooter25 I don't watch Star Wars, hence, I can't comment on your reference.

I agree, this is balderdash.
NOT Star Trek 😤

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Just watch the first three original Star Wars movie if you're ever interested. Those are the best.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Unfortunately, they are trying to turn Star Trek into Star Wars. That's something that fans of both genres don't ever want to see.
@Barefooter25 I tired and I fell asleep!

First movie, I had a BF who was a fan of both.
So, I wanted to try hard to like Star Wars;
and it was not for me.

But you know, time is a very interesting thing.
I may give it another go, one day :D !
@Barefooter25
Unfortunately, they are trying to turn Star Trek into Star Wars.
Please elaborate.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Too much fighting and explosions and very little space exploration.
@Barefooter25 That is what I had construed.

And also not enough flow between character interactions and relationships.
I love the longer slower, like a calm river, metaphorically speaking. But Star Wars is more like insane (deadly) rapids with mini calm in-between.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON George Lucas agrees with you. He said that Star Wars is more like an opera in space. He also believes that Star Trek and Star Wars don't belong in the same universe.
@Barefooter25 Huh. That's fascinating.

But I disagree with him on the latter point, they can indeed belong in the same universe:
The universe of each person's respective imagination :) 🥂
