I think the James Bond brand ran out of gas some time ago. Cool back in the 60/70s when the cold war was on but not so much anymore.

@hippyjoe1955 I agree slightly.
It is still entertaining and a lot better than most of the dross.

@Nimbus Don't ask me. LOL. I haven't watched a movie in decades. Not planning on starting any time soon either. My favorite spy was Maxwell Smart and his Smart Phone.

@hippyjoe1955 So you haven't watched a James Bond film in decades and yet still feel qualified to say that the franchise has "run out of gas".

Classic dippy😂😂😂

@room101 It ran out of gas because of the changing times. At some point you have to say the story has had its best before date pass.

@hippyjoe1955 If you had bothered to watch any of the James Bond films, you would know that the Cold War was never a big feature in any of the story lines.

It was never a big feature even in the original Ian Fleming novels.

@room101 Not the cold war but the spy vs spy of the time was a common theme.

@hippyjoe1955 Nope. It has always been; James Bond (a British Secret Service operative) vs. a global criminal organisation.
@room101 the cold war factored into it pretty big. It was never central, but it was often an important component to the plot.

@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP Not in any significant way, particularly in the films. The Cold War, Russia, North Korea et al were all backdrops to the central narrative of Spectre and its various members and/or affiliates.
