To those of you who enjoy horror films

What is it about them that you enjoy? Do you actually find them scary?

I've watched plenty but I just don't seem to be able to get into them enough to find them scary or creepy.

Pretty much everything everybody else has said, but beyond that, these movies are scary in a way that I don't get in my everyday life.

Everyday scary stuff is whether or not my dad is going to get into the refrigerator and find the cheesecake, or whether we're going to be able to pay the mortgage once the bankruptcy is over, or if that guy at 7-Eleven has COVID and I'm going to get sick because he's got no sense of personal space.

None of that stuff is fun. None of that stuff excites me. But watching someone run from an invincible supernatural monster, and be stupid enough to lock herself in the attic or basement? Or watching some dumbass read an incantation from a book he should have left alone? That's fun.

@LordShadowfire I think that may be part of my issue. I find the real world a lot scarier than anything someone could put on screen.
