Luis Bunuel's Los Olvidados

You're in luck folks one of the great classics of world cinema in good quality and English subtitles .... I 1st heard of this on an extra on the MGM Koyaanisqatsi disc, Godfrey Reggio the director of that was deeply impacted by this, it held religious significance for him, and indeed other Bunuel films from this Mexican period had extraordinary religious power, Simon of the Desert, Nazarin etc .... the surreal dream sequence was what whetted my appetite in a Bunuel doc. This is a pretty harsh and unsparing look at the poor community, the rough life that was, for an 80's version of this kind of thing check out Hector Babenco's Pixote!!

This boy actor in Pixote did not have a happy ending in real life sadly, this is what you could say what real cinema looked like. I remember once I was watching it and dad came down and there was an adult scene going on and he moaned my name like oh woe is me what is my son watching!!
