Top 20 of the 60s
The 60s come in close behind the 70s for excellence and sheer volume of what I like in movies, here I share anudder list, because it's going well with my audiobooks.
1. The Color of Pomegranates -- Sergei Parajanov creates his own unique world, entrancing and highly symbolic
2. Birds, Orphans and Fools -- if i'd make this a top 100 you'd see the film this is a version of it on acid, I'm speaking of Jules and Jim.
3. Daisies -- most colorful and anarchically fun film evahh!!

4. Walden -- Jonas Mekas' hippie era film is all I love most about his work.
5. 8 1/2 -- Federico Fellini had director's block and so made a film about that and succeeded.
6. The Apartment -- I shall never forget this sweet film.
7. Winter Light -- tied for favorite Bergman with Cries and Whispers
8. Le Mepris -- Godard's film fundamentally changed how I perceived some things.
9. West Side Story -- my favorite musical, Leonard Bernstein was a living Mahler in our midst!!
10. Persona -- this was my first Bergman, and what a spectacular introduction!!
11. Le Bonheur -- Agnes Varda's film here is so beautiful, but with a disturbing undertone.
12. Cleo from 5 to 7 -- this is what most see as Varda's best, and it is indeed great!!
13. Vivra sa vie -- Godard OWNED the 60s
14. To Kill a Mockingbird -- once I watched this all the way through without smoking, which is for me rare.
15. Through a Glass Darkly -- Bergman is featured heavily here, this was a great decade for him, he also shone bright in the previous decade, in this I feel the location so well.
16. My Night at Maud's -- if I could pick just one Rohmer it would be this quiet and dignified tale of a math nerd Catholic, and his destiny to marry the blonde he sees at Mass.
17. Mamma Roma -- more I think of it Pasolini's sophmore effort is the most poignant for me.
18. Portrait of Jason -- a super rare experience to see a man under the magnifying glass, could be uncomfortable for some.
19. La ricotta -- Pasolini's short film is full of irreverent glee
20. Flaming Creatures -- I conclude this list with a controversial Underground classic, the music is the main reason btw.
