I just pick things that are immediately visible in the stacked piles, and thankfully i've picked my #1 silent film

The Passion of Joan of Arc

The pinnacle of not only the silent era, but rises above practically all that came after, imo. It was considered lost {I am in error, but a good print was not around till found} until it was found in a mental hospital too, I like that little detail.

If I have enough energy later tonight i'd want to put on Godard's Vivre sa Vie which has a scene where the main character watches Joan, and a tear eloquently falls down her cheek.

Dreyer intended this film to be shown in absolute silence, but i've always thought the Voices of Light soundtrack adds an emotional accessibility to the film, perhaps I can watch it in silence at a later time when I'm less dependent on stimulation.

Alas I must acknowledge another mistaken bit of info, about intentional silence by the director, it is just that he did not specify what would be the music accompaniment is.
