I like it so much. Dean Martin is harrowing, and Angie Dickinson, oh my.
Have you ever seen The Big Country by Wyler? Was absolutely floored by how great that one was. High potency of greek tragedy and interesting discussion about generational trauma.

@Somerset Not yet, thanks! I'll maybe get it soon. John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13 was based on Rio Bravo, I used to have that, but didn't treat it with enough respect. Love Mr. Ives, he appears in Samuel Fuller's White Dog.

@MrAlmostCrazy Wasn‘t he the old man who wanted to get the dog back from the couple? What a nightmare of a movie! Funnily enough, I watched that in the same week during covid, I also watched When a Stranger Calls in.
Yeah, Carpenter and his peers most definitely absolutely adored Hawks etc. Assault is incredible. The score, my god. My favorite Carpenter is probably Prince of Darkness, with The Thing on a close second. Although Carpenter has so many masterpieces in my opinion.

@Somerset Yeah, the one who was training the dog out of its racism. Frightening idea, that people would train their pets like that! I should consider upgrading and expanding my Carpenter, i'd want a souped up edition of The Thing first!!

@MrAlmostCrazy Oh yeah? Definitely have to watch that again! Fuller is so good, too! There were alot of remastered editions of The Thing around a couple of years ago. In Germany was a UHD edition, which also had the new transfer on bluray. Let me check if its english friendly.
