A two hour movie has to cut lots of material.
The Rosamund Pike audio book is 11.5 hours. That's more like it. You get a chance to appreciate the full interplay of Darcy & Lizzie's early interactions.
Six months is not too long to fall in love. Especially because Lizzie isn't obsequiously seeking favor like the other young ladies in Darcy's circle. Part of the point is that it's her spirit and her independence that attract Darcy.
