@WildMountainRose One of my high school classes [I think it was Interpersonal Communication?] studied this film in depth and I remember being a bit affected by it too.

@Starcrossed I'm not sure how anyone wouldn't be able to find something in it they could identify with. :-)

@phoenixrising You're most welcome, my friend. :-)

Hard question. I don't think any movie would dramatically make me change my perspective on life overnight. I guess something like that happens gradually by being exposed to multiple things and themes from multiple sources.
Death becomes her scared me as a kid with the concept of immortality but that is a fantasy so I don't count that. I just realized that living in a body that is falling apart and knowing that your consciousness will be here forever must be horrible.

The first time I watched Lost in Translation felt pretty transformative. Couldn't have watched it at a more appropriate time in my life. And even a couple decades later it still has a way of syncing up.

Schindler’s List
followed by Lee, 1917.
Mystic River, I find very haunting.

Le Mepris and L'Avventura showed me things about human relationship dynamics that were foundational to me.

'A walk to remember' would be the movie for me.

Arthur with Dudley Moore, Sometimes you can just think funny thoughts. Laughter makes everything better 🙂
phoenixrising · M
@LavidaRaq Great film but didn't much care for the sequel with Liza Minnelli. Arthur will always be one of my favorites too
LavidaRaq · F
@phoenixrising same, the sequel wasn’t as good. But the first is a fave..
phoenixrising · M
@LavidaRaq Amen to that
