I guess it depends on just how dated it looks. Some old films have special effects that haven't aged very well which makes it really hard to enjoy.

@rocknroll Same here, but crappy special effects can be pretty distracting from what is happening in a scene.

@SubstantialKick I find those old special effects fascinating to watch. It took a great deal of originality to figure out how to make them work. Sure, they are not as realistic as modern computerized effects, but I am more in awe of the old ones. To me, computer graphics are too easy to be impressive. But using a rotating piece of cloth blown by a fan to depict a tornado in the Wizard of Oz was brilliant!

@DrWatson Oh yeah, some old movies like the early Star Wars films really pulled it off, to where the special effects still look good today.
