I've been watching that old Gargoyles cartoon on Disney+ lately

Man, did that show get frickin' dark for a Disney show! Definitely stood out from the usual light-hearted, comical shows Disney typically makes, comparable to other darker, action-oriented cartoons back then like Batman: The Animated Series and X-Men. It was pretty much what Avatar: The Last Airbender was for Nickelodeon the following decade, but much more stark. One episode that really shocked me was the eighth episode of the first season "Deadly Force," where one of the gargoyles, Broadway, who's usually the silly comic relief character, finds himself in a very serious situation when he accidentally shoots the main human character, Elisa, with her own gun. It shows her bleeding from the gunshot wound and everything! Like, whoa, this actually aired on the Disney Channel?!

Apparently, a live-action reboot of the series is currently in the works. If I'm not mistaken, I think that would be a first as far Disney doing a live-action remake of a show rather than a movie. I would think that sounds pretty awesome, but considering Disney's track record with making poor quality live-action remakes, I'm not too enthusiastic about it. Especially since Disney most definitely doesn't have an edge these days. It'd be nice if they do remain faithful to the darker, edgier nature of the original show. Could serve as the first step towards Disney steering away from their overly PC pandering and get back to producing quality content. But fat chance of that happening.
