I made myself watch Happy Gilmore 2
After hearing my sister and a couple of my co-workers talk about it, I decided to just sit down and give a watch. It was... okay. It got a few laughs out of me but what dragged it down was how over-the-top they made it and, of course, Adam Sandler's typical manchild "humor". It was nice to see so many cast members from the original come back and some of the references to the first movie were hilarious. but some parts were a disappointment... When I heard that Eminem was going to play Donald the "jackass" guy's son, that sounded funny to me! But that scene wasn't that funny at all. It's like they just shoehorned it in just to have a "jackass" reference. Lame. What I really liked was them giving Shooter McGavin a redemption arc. Sure he was a jerk in the original, but he was funny and I kinda liked him. It was cool to see him redeem himself and make peace with Happy. All in all, I didn't dislike it, but I didn't think it was as good as everyone else made it sound. Definitely nowhere near as good as the first. I think it would've been a lot better if they went back to basics like they did in the original and not made it so out there. And of course, if Sandler kept the dumb childish jokes prevalent in his newer movies out of it.
