SNL, Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo (1982)

@thewindupbirdchronicles He came to our college with other celebrities to celebrate what would’ve been MLK’s 50th birthday. Some of us in the music department got to meet him and shake his hand. He was really nice to us.
*But the skit wasn’t the real Stevie—doesn’t Eddie do a great job imitating his voice ?

@bijouxbroussardi used to believe that joking about certain subjects was okay, that laughter is important. I am now convinced that it allows the normalization of activities that are abhorrent. I cannot watch SNL anymore. It denigrates the one person now trying to save our democracy, giving his opponents subtle support.

@samueltyler2 I haven’t watched it in a very long time. Who does it denigrate ?

@samueltyler2 I’ll have to check it out. SNL has made fun of all the presidents dating back to Ford and Carter. The only one who got upset and tried to stop them has been Trump. Obama and Bush Sr actually befriended the comedians satirizing them.

@bijouxbroussard they emphasize just the things tRumpians push. Makes my fun of his age, difficulty speaking, is so repugnant. They don't necessarily need to attack tRump constantly, but i suspect the SNL audience contact the more undecided and left leaning population, and are more likely to be affected by the subliminal advertising against President Biden. I am truly worried tried about the future of our country. How any person of control or, any young person can't seem through the haze of the warm civil war we are currently in amazes me. They better come out and support president Biden and best down, at the polls, the crazies.
