Last Saturday I went to the cinema, it was National Cinema day

I saw E. T. its the 40th anniversary this year, it's still an amazing movie. Obviously it's aged, but it's still great

This Sunday I've booked tickets to see Jaws in the imax, should be good

You know if that movie were written today there would be some really weird cell phone capable of reaching his planet. The only question is how much porno spam ET would end up getting.

@CestManan What always gets me is this advanced race of aliens is pottering around on our planet they get rumbled all get back on the spaceship and do one and not one of them thought ''ermm wonder where ET is?'' he's gotta phone them ''oi you left me behind!!!'' and they gotta travel all the way back to pick him up again daft sods hahahaha!🤣

@AdaXI I remember thinking that when I was a kid. Like they're smart enough to build equipment to contact other planets but they don't know how to take God damn headcount when they're getting ready to leave a planet?

The acting ability of Henry Thomas was apparent at such a young age. I enjoyed seeing him in The Haunting of Hill House (so good and I am not a horror movie fan)

You are so lucky to live near an Imax.

@SW-User

Have you seen this before?

@cuppatea no I hadn't, and wow that was amazing and thanks for sharing it.

But the dialogue at the end was so off... "if you let me talk to him for 5 minutes you can keep him forever" it just sounds like inappropriate manipulating language, a sign of the times

@SW-User YES, and I think it was Ron Howard's voice too 😳

I remember getting thrown out of the cinema when we went to see Jaws, probably the 3rd or 4th time when it had been out for a few months. No spoilers 🤐

I bought ET years ago but have not watched in a very long time
Jeffrey53 · 51-55, M
Did you get in for $3.00 ?
SW-User
@Jeffrey53 it was €4.95 including the booking fee, if I didn't pre book it was €4, but all tickets were sold out, so I would not have got in
I heard that people would be throwing up in the cinemas when jaws first came out, and were sobbing it was so terrifying
SW-User
@InOtterWords I didn't know that, well obviously I've seen it a few times already, yeah it's scary but a classic all the same
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
Thats good 👍 how time has passed.
SW-User
@Justenjoyit yes it's crazy, I never saw it in the cinema at the time, so it was nice to have that experience
Justenjoyit · 61-69, M
@SW-User Both very big films in their day, enjoy 😊
