Ahhh... kudos to you! 馃憦 Elvis is a great film but with some flaws. For example, Colonel Tom Parker's role was poorly written (not even close to being historically accurate) and even Tom Hanks couldn't fix it.

@funfan I agree the Parker role was a little over the top, but Hanks did a more credible job than I expected. Feared Hanks would want to go in the opposite direction and make him too cuddly. Biggest flaw that I saw was the whole idea of his "volunteering" for the draft. You either volunteered for the Army and served 3 years or you were drafted and served 2 years, and he served 2 years. And he was pretty much at the peak of his initial career when drafted -- not needing rehab -- or else there would never have been a stimulus for the musical Bye Bye Birdie. And I was in the 3rd Army Division 2 years after he left, and guys were still talking about him. The scenes with Priscilla in her bedroom didn't quite mesh. Elvis insisted on just being one of the guys -- no special privileges, no attention -- while on duty. But he kept a full suite at the largest hotel in Frankfurt for when he had weekend passes or was on leave, to entertain and do business with whomever Col Parker sent over. Then again he was stationed in one of the brigades outside Frankfurt, Rhein Main AFB is outside Frankfurt, and since her father was an Air Force officer, it is conceivable he would be enjoying an evening locally before curfew.
