It has come a long way

When I was a kid, the top picture looked just as good as the bottom picture

@Musicman I watched a documentary a while ago explaining how every Pixar movie made a new innovation.

For example: in Monsters Inc, a computer program was made to render Sully's 2.3 million hairs, rather than having to animate them individually

They were funny how they tested them.
Seeing animamted balls come out hairless or all screwed up.... hilarious😂

But the program overlay on the animation was a VERY clever idea.
