Do you think the 2nd Godfather is overrated?

People go on and on and on about but I dont see the big fuss.

Opinion on the 3rd then?

@silkandlace: Highly underrated!! What? People thought that there wouldn't be some sort of price to pay for all that killing and all that corruption and everything that Michael did?

@Allelse: right; and maybe I've watched too many extras, but its all about redemption, which ends up with more tragedy

@silkandlace: Redemption? I think the morale is that crime doesn't pay. Nice and simple. He takes out everyone and it never occurred to him that it might all come back to him someday. Audiences had such a big sook at how dark and depressing the third one was, well that's often how it ends for these kinds of people.

@Allelse: i mean, in the extras on the newer discs, Scorsese says it's about redemption, but, like you say, i think the endgame is that it doesn't pay, you nailed it!

@silkandlace: I mean look at all the people Capone killed to get to the top and I think he only ruled for 3 years before they locked him up and they chased down and shot Escobar. Well that's just what I think the third Godfather was all about.

@Allelse: certainly a very good parallel

@silkandlace: And Lucky I think ended up exiled from all he built :S
