What was the best Alien film in the franchise?

My personal favorite is Aliens, but Alien is right behind it. 3 and 4 weren't really good, but maybe someone likes it. I'm just curious and want to hear people's thoughts first hand.

the second one i think where Ripley goes back when she finds out there's colonies of people living where the Aliens are and they set up those automatic machine guns in the hallways and she saves the little Girl too

I was rapt in the entire Alien series, and enjoyed 'Prometheus' because it turned out to be the precursor to Alien.
