Mrs Bridges - "Win the War pie"

I've asked about a TV episode that I've been searching for. I have no idea what the name could be, what series it could be with. All I know is that it's in black and white. A man is married and works on the docks. A friend tells him about this job he could do and something about if he steps through the door, or if he takes the job he can't go back to his wife. He takes the job, after some time he doesn't like it so he goes to do some other job, at one point he's standing on the sidewalk across from his house looking on, but knows he can't go back (I think they declare him missing or something like that)

I also remember a part where he's in this large room, and there are people at desks typing as he walks down a main aisle to a man sitting at a desk. At the end of the episode they catch the man and strap him to a stretcher and give him a lobotomy. I've looked through all the Twilight Zone episode descriptions and didn't see anything remotely close. I have no idea if it's Outer Limits maybe? Or Alfred Hitchcock. I turned on the TV and the character and story seemed interesting, but it was in the middle of it. I guess I got lucky because another day it was on, closer to the beginning so I watched the whole thing, but never got the name of what the episode was.

I loved it. I dont remember this episode. But Gordon Jackson is a classic.
On a related topic: This episode would have been around 1972. I discovered a Twilight Zone episode from the first season, 1959, featuring Jean Marsh. the central maid character throughout the series. I had no idea she was that old..😷
