@Guitarman123 Well since you seem to be a “true believer” and everything else I’ve mentioned has failed to enlighten you I would have to repeat myself and maybe rephrase that “selling out” is the opposite of producing something just for commercial purposes. If you want to use Gilliam as an example then you need not look any further than “Fear and Loathing” or “Brazil” to understand that something that is often panned by critics and that has no involvement of corporate sponsors and that sticks true to the artistic spirit of the director is a good example. But if you want to understand you are going to have to divest yourself of your own myopic views of what you clearly believe Nolan has done.
Otherwise you can just reread what I’ve written in the past 25(?) installments on this thread. Up to you of course…

@GoldnJulz and nolan has stuck to his artistic spirit his entire career. I don't like everything hes done. But i respect greatly his ability to have a clear vision for a film and does what he can to bring it to life.

Which is fine. I’m not saying that you have poor taste. You’re just not able to see beyond your own cognitive dissonance especially when it comes to my point. Good luck with that. Your opinion is not valid in this case. The only point is that he’s a non artistic visionary. He has his own personal style but he doesn’t get artistic merit for reworking comic book characters “for adults” who may or may not still enjoy wearing underoos…
And the examples of the directors who have been able to be successful and still retain their artistic value are those that I’ve already listed as well as many others but I have no interest in the “last wording” game that you clearly seem to enjoy far too much for my tastes. If you want to believe that you are somehow not wrong then I count that as your own personal problem and not mine. I tried and the fact that you’re not even mentioning the examples I’ve given you leads me to believe that you’re trolling because I don’t think you’re that neurodivergent but I could be mistaken…
