Yes, I remember that! I remember TVs having tubes in them, and the VHF channels being clear while the UHF channels were very hit or miss. And we were late to get color.

A couple of years away from retirement

I remember having only one channel: whatever my dad wanted to watch. We could either watch along with him or not watch TV. There was no conversation about whether we liked it or not, let alone if there was any common ground we could all enjoy.
