Thoughts on piracy of movies anyone?

What are your thoughts regarding this topic.

In general, I am against it as everyone involved in making movies need the money, just like in any other job.

However, and I use myself as an example here:

I have a handful of actors I adore, and wish to see all their movies. I make a point of buying the movies I can find, be it digital or dvd/blu ray.

However, not all movies can be found because of a plethora of reasons, such as lack of demand in general or not enough interrest, the cost of getting the right to massproduce the movie in my country being too much compared to what it might make, the topic of the movie being frowned upon or downright banned (like Monty Pythons Holy Grail when that came out elsewhere) etc.

Is it bad of me to find those movies online via not so legal sites?
On the rare occation I have found the movie online less than legally, only to find it finally released after years of it being blocked, I still make a point of buying it legally.

Should that be legal? Or should I avoid any movie not legally sold/shown because my country thinks it knows whatest for the audience?

Note: if the movie shows illegal stuff like kids being exploited or real deaths, I get the ban.
But movies not being available simply because not enough people are interrested, or being controversial to some people (like religious groups or politics) should be easier to get legally imo.

Piracy doesn't decrease the profits of someone who produces content. If anything, it increases it, by increasing the amount of viewers and also that of paying viewers (from, essentially, network effect)
