During filming of the original Home Alone in 1990, Joe Pesci kept his distance from McCaullay Caulkin and acted cold towards him. He did that so that Kevin’s fear of the Harry character would be real and actual. Also, Joe had to tone down his language because he was used to cussing a lot

I believe Frank Langella did the same with everyone during the entire shooting of Frost/Nixon keeping himself in character and in his trailer when not required as part of his method acting regime, Michael Sheen who was opposite him suggested that they only had a relaxed conversation after the wrap.

I believe Joe even bit the poor kid's finger hard enough to leave a scar (accidentally...in an attempt to be intimidating during a rehearsal).
