When you were a little kid, who did you think was a great actor?

For me it was Robert Newton 👍

Newton: Wonderfully OTT by modern standards.

I always admired a British actor who I first saw on TV in the 60s: Patrick Troughton played many contrasting parts: Paul of Tarsus, Quilp in The Old Curiosity Shop, a crotchety school master in Dr Finlay's Casebook then the eponymous Dr Who. I was very young to have noticed something like 'range' in an actor, but I still remember it. Probably not well known outside the UK.

@FreddieUK Troughton was my first Doctor Who, I'm not quite old enough to have seen William Hartnell. Happy memories!
@FreddieUK Patrick Troughton was my favorite Doctor of the classics. I also remember him as Duke of Norfolk in The Six Wives of Henry VIII. I remember he passed away relatively young, while on a project here in the U.S.
