When you were a little kid, who did you think was a great actor?

Any one performance stand out for you? There were many but The Quiet Man was my favorite.

@rinkydinkydoink i think it was a more by proxy thing. he was just everywhere and doing so many westerners and that was something my dad could get behind

The only thing I noticed but didn't like was his seemingly always having to be the most manly - almost cartoonishly manly - guy all the time. James Stewart, Dean Martin, Robert Mitchum and others had to play second fiddle.

@rinkydinkydoink i dunno that i really noticed at the time... or i was young enough to just accept that as the way. im not sure you're ready for much nuance in stories before 3rd grade

Nuance be damned! You're right... that's what struck me about Newton as Long John Silver.
