What I don't get is

All the people canceling Disney+, Hulu and Paramount in protest and switching to PBS.

I get the canceling, but why did they wait till they canceled, knowing that PBS needs their money more than the other 3? That if PBS was really that important to them, why didn't they make the sacrifice sooner?

Because it's not really important to them, it's just now they want to feel like they're doing something.

I'm not just being cynical and negative. I understand wanting to do something, and you can control whom you give your money to (for the most part), so now there's a reason to change where your money goes. But it wasn't really about supporting public broadcasting. At least not for most.

I don't know. People don't want to sit around and feel like there's nothing they can do while everything gets worse. And maybe now they'll care more about the dwindling public arts in this country, so that's not really a bad thing in the end.
