It's crazy to me seeing how many people seem capable of grasping the concept of 'I didn't like him/watch him/agree with him but he shouldn't have lost his job', but were unable to manage the same last week when someone lost their LIFE. Being happy, or at best indifferent to murder but someone losing their job is what makes them irate.
Unfortunately we're now in a period of reaping, the sowing was done a long time before when it was 'the other side' being cancelled and no-one complaining now seemed too upset about it.

@JimboSaturn I'm not from the US so who's who and who said what isn't really a strong point for me, I was speaking in more general terms when it comes to 'cancel culture', I think the common phrase was 'you have freedom of speech, but not freedom from consequences'. The implication being 'be quiet and follow the accepted line or else'. Which is what seems to be happening here.

@helsbels yeah private and public/government are different though. Private company is theirs to do what they want with - Disney. And here the anti-woke are incensed. but they’re just business decisions. This is FCC government pressure which is a totally different and much scarier thing… because we generally don’t want the govt making hiring and firing decisions for other people (and it is regulated by 1st amendment).

If you watched his whole monologue all he did is make jokes about Trump. That’s all he ever does. He can be funny but he has to get off the soapbox. There are so many other things that are funny. Unfortunately, he has to do what he is told . He is one of the left’s mouthpieces. I wonder what they have on him. He is trapped. He cannot produce an original thought. Very sad.

Late night tv shows are not news outlets. Comedians have the free speech rights ...in case you're wondering, Charlie Kirk supported free speech and was against censorship and government interference....as was the current FCC leader Carr. Go back and read his support for free speech, but now he plays for the Trump team, so he's now all for government censorship.

The rules abour misinformation do not change if it comes from a different department within the station. If you show news at any time you have an obligation not to knowingly broadcast misinformation. No matter what the source. Been that way since the FCC first began in 1934

Seems there are a few stories floating around that even Fox news is facing law suits for defamation of tRump. Because, these conservative outlets were upset that tRump would not release the epstein files.

@FreddieUK To be fair, media like TV,movies and radio have always been privately controlled, so there’s a shall group of rich people that decide what we can see. If they think something particular will get in the way of them making money, or if they think people will stop watching, they’re free to not make it.
Someone who owns a lot of ABC stations didn’t like what Kimmel said so they complained to ABC who agreed to end the show did now. If Kimmel finds another a soapbox to speak from,he’s free to do that.

@JimboSaturn Barack and Michelle called ABC personally to have Roseann fired after her comments about a woman whose name escaped me to have her fired. She made a joke, insensitive maybe but was it worth ruining her career? Like I said his show was suspended not cancelled. Roseann was killed off of her own show. Bad mouthed by her co stars, people who owe their careers in some part to her. Let’s look at this from both sides .
