The best war movies have humor in them.

Stalag 17 (the inspiration for Hogan's Heroes) and The Dirty Dozen, for example.

Stalag 17 is one of my favorite movies. I have watched it many times. And this is true even though in general, war movies do not interest me.
@DrWatson

Yes! Same here - only a few I'll watch. I hope you're not a John Wayne fan because none of his war movies interest me in the least.

A few years ago I read something another noted actor said - (paraphrasing): "If I'm casually going through the channels on my TV and I come across Stalag 17, I feel compelled to watch it".

@rinkydinkydoink No, I am not a John Wayne fan!
@DrWatson

Phew... may I friend you?

Catch-22 (1970). It was a flop and not as funny as the novel but I enjoyed it.
@hunkalove

It had some big names in the cast, too - and memorable scenes.
Stalag 17 is an amazing movie.

Each time, when getting out of bed and sliding into my slippers, it reminds me of the similar way Animal slud (a term Dizzy Dean used too many times when calling baseball games lol) into his.

@rinkydinkydoink I had never heard of Betty Grable until I saw that movie! (I was pretty young , and went with my father.) So I can never think of her without thinking of Animal! lol
@DrWatson

It's funny how our brains work :)

May the memories of those two - and more - live on for a great while.
