I thought it was okay. I mean it was entertaining and I enjoyed the relationship of the boy and the robot, but eh, most of the characters weren’t that memorable. I am a bit bummed they cancelled it, they left us on a real cliffhanger

@Zeuro I'm never going to get to the cliff hanger which surprises me you say that. I read about the series before starting and was lead to believe it had an actual ending episode.
I don't watch any streaming series that is just suddenly dropped without an ending episode no matter how bad they usually are.

@Zeuro Me also. I will review a series on Netflix and Prime and refuse to watch if it doesn't have a final episode or pending season. I seldom follow new shows for that reason. I don't like waiting 2+ years for a show to continue. Plus it wasn't until streaming came along that 8 episodes qualified as a season.

Many contemporary sci-fi flicks today are poorly written, as you can see with this example. Of note is the distinct lack of originality or meaningful uniqueness to story lines and script, which is characteristic of many of today's films no matter what genre. It seems fashionable now to kill off the main protagonist (or near central figure) while either elevating or replacing it entirely with the antagonist. For example you see this method in the first Mission Impossible remake. They kill off the good guy while simultaneously making him appear to be the bad guy.
I used to go to the movies (theaters), quite often once per week, but there's nothing of value to see anymore because of how woke, worthless, and low quality films are made today. Not to mention how expensive ticket prices and snacks have become. Notice how quickly many movies at the theater quickly go straight to streaming - nobody watches them anymore. I still go to the flicks about once or twice a year, but most movies I like to say I'll wait for them to come out on Netflix, then - Not Rent Them. 😅😂🤣

I wanted to like it….
Have you seen Inception? That’s a good one.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@OlderSometimesWiser Will do.

@OlderSometimesWiser caught inception just in time. It's ending on Netflix in 3 days. Thanks again.

@OlderSometimesWiser Haven't finished inception yet but what a mind bender. It's more action drama then sci-fi but it's a wild ride.
I've watched several dream manipulation movies but none touch this concept. I'll never think about dreams the same way again. Even when you know what's going on here your mind is going Wait What trying to separate reality from dream scenes.
Total mind blower.

I liked it. The girl that played Smith did a good job, that's how an actual Dr Smith would probably be. The parents were forgettable af. Nothing like the actual show. They're divorced, there bitter. He's not Dr Robinson as much as he's some dumb glowie leg breaker with PTSD. A demented ape and unrelatable. She's got big time dude energy, gross and unrelatable , nothing to see with either of them. I'm guessing it's some woke commie attack on the family. I've seen parents portrayed as pathetic and flavorless characters before if not outright stupid.

@HobNoblin I agree with everything you said except the dr smith character. Grates on me. I wanted her killed in the second episode. Adds nothing to the show in my opinion. None of the characters are interesting. Only the kid playing Will and his relationship with the robot are interesting scenes. I'll never finish it.
