They are like most states, with liberal urban areas and conservative rural areas, and they battle over the suburbs.
It is just that in California, the urban areas have more sway. But the trend in every state is that urban areas grow at the expense of rural areas, and people move to cities for jobs. So eventually Texas will turn blue. And I think it may be the most populous state someday.
