Absolutely compelling viewing.

The story of Sub-Postmasters in the UK accused of massive thefts from the Post Office during the 80's thanks to errors in the accounting system on the official government website system.
And one man's stubborn refusal to take the law or the governments account as a statement of fact.

People lost their jobs; their business and in many cases their liberty being jailed !

Absolutely horrific. Even after it was discovered the system was faulty the Post Office* still refused to acknowledge the problem, even after it was discovered and compensation was awarded they have refused to pay.

* Post Office = some utterly scummy bellend who themselves should be sent for trial.

@GeniUs It seems (according to episode 2 currently playing) it was employees at Fujitsu messing with the system!!!

Aahh ! Episode 3 reveals Fujitsu wasn't messing with the system, they were trying to correct it !!

Also that Ed Davey - currently leader of Britain's third largest political party, was actually the minister in charge of the post office during the Liberal Democrats coalition with the Conservative government of the day !!!!

Final episode concludes tomorrow ITV-1 @ 9 pm gmt.

@Picklebobble2 I knew it was a big Japanese company but the whole scenario has just been such a clusterfuck; I suppose I should watch it to get the full low down. I have only picked up various reports but I know The Post Office could've halted the problems way earlier than they did. And having crossed swords with the PO over them losing 80 quids worth of my stuff (which was paid for insured and tracked) I wouldn't trust them.

I was really happy when old enough for people to start referring to me as Mr. Bates. It was a huge improvement over Master Bates.

Amazing to think she lost not only her good name, friends and family and reasonable lifestyle over her Husband losing everything.
But stood by him through it all !
Even when constantly begging him to give it up !
