In the Movie Ben Hur, the Roman Soldier states that Hate keeps a man alive . Is this true? it seems to fit the context of the movie

Ben Hur is a long film. It takes a lot of stamina to get through it all. I tried to read the book once. I couldn't get into it. The modern update of the film is shorter but lacks the heart and soul of the original. It didn't win 11 Oscars for no reason.

@Jacko1971 haven't seen it recently, but it remains a major part of my viewing life. I seem to remember parts that affect my life profoundly. I can't forget it even thought it portrays a life of Roman occupancy of Judea based upon the Hollywood way of portraying it. I will watch it again sometime when I get the chance with a critical view. But knowing the end I will always appreciate the movie
