TV companies are struggling.
New drama and comedy cost much to buy and produce and since streaming has become a thing that means audience share has shrunk and advertising is hard to attract as a result.
So that means TV companies are looking at what they already own the rights to in an attempt to try and attract new viewers to tried and tested formula.
@Picklebobble2 intelligent answer. They should go back to making their own shows. And they need to re-boot ideas...not shows. Remember the NBC mystery night at the movies? remember the Thursday comedy lineup? Remember The Saturday night Thrilogy? And that is just NBC...

@DIABLISS In the UK it's made worse because it's not just a matter of owning a television.
Here if you own a TV you have to pay for a TV licence just to watch !
£160 a year !
You pay the government this money and some of it goes towards paying for the BBC. as it's government owned.
And when you research it and you see all the management positions which are salaried from this money that pot for creative program making shrinks all the more.
@Picklebobble2 you have to pay to watch the BBC? no wonder everyone is poor in England...unless they can sing or act or run the country

@DIABLISS There are about half a dozen independent channels free to air. But you can only watch if you have a license !
So the argument here has been if independent television can work without the need for viewers to pay why can't the BBC take on advertising like the independent channels do and make watching television free.
I know the government were seriously considering it during covid lockdown when they desperately needed folk to stay home.
But BBC Senior management said they couldn't afford to bring forward the next season's programs in an attempt to encourage folks to stay home without extra 'help' (£££) from the government
@Picklebobble2 where do all your tax dollars go?
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@DIABLISS Hospitals; schools; prisons; old folks homes; children's homes; road maintenance (although you get taxed every year just for having a vehicle on the road... plus insurance. and the petrol. Expensive business driving !) GP's (that's your local Doctor who will see and treat you free at point of need) Defence; law enforcement and a plethora of government quangos supposedly doing the work you assume government departments are doing on the country's behalf.
@Picklebobble2 so that sounds like America
