Well it was building up to it remember when he ate so much he couldn't get into rabbits hole?
And since he didn't have a mate even the stuffed bear sow would have been okay you know it can drive a male crazy.....
And of course he just loves honey so you know you mess with the honey pot you're going to get stung!
