Even when it's open to comments I have been invisible in those comments since 2011. You aren't seen if you are against war three times. I'm somewhat visible to the person I responded to who made a comment, sometimes. The crowd is curated to make war fun for the people who don't care about the ecosystem. And it hides the rest of us.

Usually its the uploader who turns off comments
It depends on the channel, whether the owner clicked them off, or marked underage content, like a cartoon/learning channel, or a kid reviewing kid's products like toys.
