When someone buys a bottle for your table, what does that mean?

I just saw it on a tv show. Is that a rich person thing? I feel like it communicates, "Im rich and Im watching you."

It just means a bottle of wine that everyone at the table can drink from rather than a bottle JUST FOR YOU.
