I was watching "The Great Gatsby" recently…

I watched both the 1974 version with Robert Redford, and the 2013 remake starring Leo DiCaprio. I read the book in high school, back around the time the first movie came out.
Both movies were very well done, but the 1974 version hinted, 2013 spelled a lot of it out. 2013 also had some anachronisms that the earlier movie didn’t.

There was a theme throughout the first movie, Irving Berlin’s "What’ll I Do", a beautiful song where Redford and Mia Farrow danced together. This recording is almost 100 years old now, still very haunting:

I always wondered if that was a good book because I actually liked the short parts I read in school. They tried to have us read it as a project but I never read it since I was hardly at school.
Somehow I still aced the tests though so my teachers never noticed that I wasn't actually reading the books 😂 🤷
@ChiefJustWalks It’s actually a very good book for its time. I liked F.Scott Fitzgerald back then. But I had to keep the art separate from the artist.

@bijouxbroussard The curious question is why? I'm not as fond of the book as you.
