I don't like Marvel

Or super hero movies in general. I just can't get into them

EXCEPT for

Pixar's The Incredibles. If Marvel and Pixar are both under Disney's umbrella then.... possible crossover??? If ever then I'll give Marvel another shot.

You are too old for super heroes. The fairy tale book is closed for good.

@helenS um no thats slander
helenS · 36-40, F
@SW-User Hey – the Batmobile is for 7-year-olds!
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@helenS it is for anyone that has eyes to see it.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@helenS I like cartoons and I'm proud of it.
helenS · 36-40, F
@caPnAhab I don't know what else to say 😐
At your age you should read Nietzsche and Søren Kierkegaard not "Batman". 😏
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@helenS if you think that the Dark Knight with Heath Ledger was meant for kids, don't ever supervise children, they'll get traumatised from the films you allow.

@helenS Some anonymous coward downvoted my reply. 😕

@helenS If I said I generally don't care for hero movies, you could infer I don't care for batman.

And just because I enjoy swimming in the shallow end of the pool does not mean I'm not a proficient swimmer in the deep end.
helenS · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 The only real Batmovie is the one from 1966 with Adam West. My kids loved it. "Modern" Batman movies are for people who never outgrew their childhood heroes. Like 45 year old boy scouts in short trousers.
helenS · 36-40, F
@caPnAhab I appreciate you reply young man! 🌷
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@helenS that's absolute nonsense. You're trying to stuff people into neat little boxes. I've read Nietzsche, Hegel, Kant, etc. I also still watch cartoons and enjoy theme parks. I like to drink beer and listen to Celtic Frost. I also like classical music and coffee. People don't fit into neat little stereotypes.
helenS · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 Some fit into categories the culture industry constructed for them.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@helenS most don't. It's like saying just because you're poor, you automatically will like country music and live in a trailer. It's a broad sweeping generalisation and logically fallacious.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@helenS no worries 😊
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 I see it as a matter of personal taste but I guess cartoon haters think the only way to adult is a sexless marriage, debt and the wall street journal. To each their own I guess.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 I like reading about philosophy but at the same, life's too short to only read about dry philosophical speakers all the time. I can read philosophy but I can also watch Adventure Time.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SatanBurger The so-called "personal taste" is installed into the brains by the culture industry. There's something for everyone, so nobody can escape.
caPnAhab · 26-30, M
@SatanBurger I think a variety in many things is good. Find what you enjoy and stick to it.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@helenS Even when you read about philosophy you're still indoctrinated with someone ELSE'S viewpoint. Each philosophy can also be equally criticized for its faults. The only way not to be is to not teach kids anything at all and then just leave them to their own devices, we've seen how that works out.

A large part of culture is also genetically motivated and depends on genetics more than one thinks, you're not above that. Everyone is an individual.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SatanBurger The idea of "personal taste" is mass deception.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@helenS No it's your personal taste that you believe that every adult should "just" read philosophical concepts and nothing more therefore it's not a mass deception.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@helenS Geek trolling. Tut tut. 🤣
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@SatanBurger She only half believes what she says. Don't take her do seriously.
helenS · 36-40, F
@SatanBurger It's mass deception because the notion of personal taste is an illusion. It's been made for you.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Burnley123 You should know that it's exactly mass deception that keeps capitalism alive and well.
