What is the worst movie you've ever seen at the cinema?

Even though I saw it as a joke, Fifty Shades Freed was the worst film I've ever watched.

Not sure it's the worst one, but Firestarter comes to mind. I really like Stephen King books, which is why I was looking forward to seeing the screen adaptation of that movie.

In spite of the 'big names' in it, the movie was pretty bad. Even considering that it was based on one of his not so great books, it was pretty bad.

@Piper The worst King adaptation has to be Running Man...it ignored every interesting element of the book and gave us a camp romp with men in spandex. On it's own merits it OK...as an adaptation, the worst ever
@Piper I actually liked that movie. The Stephen King movie I didn’t like was The Shining. I hated what Kubrick did to the novel.

@romper69 Thinner was pretty atrocious too

@bijouxbroussard It was long ago (1984), that I saw that movie in a theater/cinema. I have long since stopped expecting a screen adaption of a book I've read and liked, to be as good as or true to the the book. That way, it's just a great thing when a screen adaption is just as good or even better. :)

I don't much like the screen adaptation of The Shining, either.

@romper69 I've never seen it, but I know Stephen King didn't like it...either.

@Piper they are talking about doing a reboot of firestarter. Why??

@geoam1 I thought the acting was cringe-worthy, from some actors that are most often very good at their chosen profession. Maybe it was the director of the film, at fault for that. I don't know, but it's nice to know I'm not the only person who was disappointed in it. :)

@SW-User I don't know, but perhaps it will be better (to me) than the first one.

@Piper probably!! I'm a horror nerd. Did you see the remake of Pet Sematery??

@SW-User Just read that recently. I've mostly outgrown King but I wanted to check that out

@SW-User it's a different twist on the film.

@Piper I like King and I was really disappointed by the Under the Dome mini-series.

TBH though, The Stand is still pretty good. It was a very literal adaptation and it was so well done that it is still a decent watch even now.

@Burnley123 I wasn't, so much. There are quite a few screen adaptions of Stephen King's novels and short stories that I didn't think were very good, but I did not see them at a cinema.
Then there are the screen adaptions of his novella and serial novel, that I think are at least as good as the works they were based on.

@SW-User I did.
